I think most people go with the easiest way to play, which involve the least stragety, hence you have all those Draigowing crap armies. I think they should just forbid special characters from tournaments, and you would see a whole new set of winners emerge.

Re: Grey Knights Techmarine and Purgation Squad

I think most people stay away from the beamer at this point because most games are fairly mobile. Also, I hate psycannons with a fashion, but at least Purgation squads are easier to deal with than Draigo + Paladins spamming psycannons.

Re: On burnout…

Yeah, pretty good game, though it reminded me of why even my vanilla marines army isn't Ultramarines :-P BTW, have you read any of the Horus Heresy books?

Re: On burnout…

Yeah, well you have what, two years in the game? I have been painting Grey Knights lately and purchased a Stormraven for them. However, I also got Space Marine for the Xbox. I jumped in three days ago on the hardest setting and have been hooked. Extremely bloody, extremely violent. Your armor gets covered in blood as you cut orks in half. I highly recommend it for a painting break yet still 40k related.

Re: On burnout…

Hi there!Have you already checked out my new hobby blog, Tale of Painters? I know that feeling. I think thats why I have like 10-15 HQ models for my SW now, lol. I ended up using this chaplain (http://www.games-workshop.c... without his Jump Pack for my Crimson Fists cause it was the model I liked the best.

Re: Eldar update: Now 1500 points

Well, I could take the backpack off. I bought one of the Forgeworld Corsair jump packs for him and count it as Swooping Hawk wings. Or I could just leave it on cuz it looks cool and not put him with the unit.

Re: Painting: Finished 1500pt Tourny List

I actually have a few more of those (lascannon, heavy bolter, and a body without a weapon). Coming close to the end of 2nd Ed models I ended up with, though I think I can build a full squad of RT era marines.

Re: Eldar update: Now 1500 points

That Autarch can't get in the Wave Serpent though since the Swooping Hawk wings make him Jump Infantry. Only dirty Blood Angels and Grey Knights can do that (in a Storm Raven anyway)

Re: Painting: Finished 1500pt Tourny List

I like how you got a Long Fang with the old heavy weapons boots. I don't know why they don't have those anymore. I guess it's easier just to make regular marine bodies and toss in a heavy weapons sprue.

Re: Painting: Wolf Scouts and Long Fangs

Yeah, I used that pack for both my Long Fang pack leaders for that very reason. Almost done with painting the infantry and just have the 3 rhinos to go. After that waterslides and flocking. Will probably have a bunch of pics of the whole list up in the next couple weeks or so since I'll definitely have time.
